Groupe BPCE: Committed to Open Source
Groupe BPCE is the second-largest banking group in France. It operates in retail banking and insurance in France through its two major networks: Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne, as well as Banque Palatine and Oney. A long-standing commitment to Open Source
By joining TOSIT (The Open Source I Trust) in 2021, Groupe BPCE has been committed for more than four years to collaborating with various stakeholders to support the emergence of Open Source solutions. This commitment to Open Source is in line with the Group's desire to forge long-term growth by being an open group, where collaboration and innovation will be at the heart of digital transformations.
First concrete achievements
In May 2023, Groupe BPCE reached a significant milestone by launching its first Open Source project on GitHub: the BPCE API Rulesets. This project allows developers to test API construction rules, thus leveraging internal skills and contributing to digital transformation initiatives. As part of its efforts to strengthen the Open Source ecosystem, Groupe BPCE plans to publish between three and five Open Source projects annually, including the Smart Directory, which stands out for its innovative approach. This whitelist is administered on the blockchain, aiming to guarantee the authenticity of addresses during large transactions. This system, consisting of a list of service providers and a list of smart contracts, ensures the verifiability and security of blockchain transactions, while facilitating access to approved services.
Partnership with OW2con'25
Continuing its efforts, Groupe BPCE will be a partner of OW2con'25, the European Open Source Conference, to be held on June 17 and 18, 2025, at the Orange Innovation Gardens in Paris-Châtillon. This event will bring together developers, IT companies, academics, and non-profit organizations, providing a unique platform for exploring technical, business, and ethical topics related to Open Source. OW2con'25 will be an opportunity to share knowledge, network with peers, and promote innovative Open Source solutions. The event is open to all, free of charge, and sessions will be held in English, encouraging broad international participation.
