NGI Zero supports strategic technology R&D, more in particular the development of free/libre/open source software and hardware, and the establishment of open standards and open data - technologies that can be used, studied, modified and shared by anyone for any purpose. Through these five programmes a total of over 50 million euro is being granted to hundreds of independent researchers and open source developers working on a better internet

The NGI Search funding program aims to bring forth the next innovative software for searching, discovering and exploiting data and resources in general on the internet and the web. This cascade funding project is overseen by five European partners: University of Aarhus (Denmark), University of Murcia (Spain), FundingBox (Poland) funding platform, Linknovate Science (Spain) expert and innovation research startup, and OW2 open source community (France).

About the Breakout Session:

 
The European NGI Program is playing a key role in the funding of open source initiatives and projects since 2018. This Breakout Session gives the floor to beneficiaries from two major NGI programs (NGI Zero and NGI Search) where OW2 has been contributing as open source community expert. Funded projects will get a speaking slot enabling them to give a short presentation of their objecives and outcomes. Then a free discussion to explore new collaboration opportunities.
