OW2con'23
Experts from around the world talk about open source software in modern corporate information systems at Paris-Châtillon.
The central theme of OW2con’23 is "Open Source Software and Digital Commons".
As demonstrated by recent trends and events (industry mergers and acquisitions, generalization of Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) in large companies, etc.), open source code has over time become a necessary component of the IT industry and a key driver for innovation. Today, even the most influential actors, whether they be companies or governments, have embraced open source software and digital commons.
The open source movement inherently embodies values which relate to the concept of commons, such as the sharing of resources and transparency.
However, there are still some challenges to be overcome if we are to make the open source ecosystem even more sustainable: How can collaboration between IT professionals, political decision-makers and communities be improved? What are the relevant business models to encourage? What can be done to better leverage and take advantage of open source for digital sovereignty? How can the IT ecosystem be better organized at European level?
OW2con'23 will address the many current challenges to be faced to make open source software a key enabler for competitiveness, digital sovereignty and democracy.
